Parking Enforcement Officer I positions assigned to the Police Department patrol an area of the City by driving three-wheel scooters, small pickup trucks, electric powered vehicles, riding bicycles, or walking; issue citations using hand-held computers for vehicles in violation of parking ordinances; mark vehicle tires to determine time violations; explain parking regulations and provide general information to the public; report damaged and inoperable parking meters; impound illegally parked or abandoned vehicles; report stranded motorists and any hazardous conditions requiring police action; conduct field investigations of unlawful use of disabled parking placards and issue Notices to Appear for violations; operate a two-way radio; use a computer to access vehicle information and other information; maintain assigned vehicles; direct traffic; complete daily reports; and perform other duties as assigned. Parking Enforcement Officer I positions assigned to the Stormwater Department, Operation Division are required to remove litter and debris from roadways and curbsides; perform storm patrol; maintain, install, and repair street sweeping signs; and perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Graduation from high school OR passage of the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) or General Education Development (GED) examination.
