Star Nursing has urgent needs for a Transporter in San Diego, CA. This assignment is located in a well-established acute care medical center in San Diego, CA, serving patients across a wide range of hospital services. The facility is known for providing comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. The role requires someone dependable, physically active, and comfortable assisting with patient movement throughout the hospital, including sensitive areas such as the morgue when needed.

Start Date: ASAP

Shift Schedule: Rotation with 8-hour shifts / Full-time, including weekends

Week 1: Sunday 11:00 PM, Tuesday 12:00 PM, Wednesday 12:00 PM, Friday 11:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 PM

Week 2: Monday 12:00 PM, Tuesday 12:00 PM, Wednesday 11:00 PM, Friday 12:00 PM

Important Note: This is a full-time position including weekends. The role is very active, and candidates must be comfortable with hospital transport responsibilities, including going to the morgue when needed.

Job Description

The Transporter will be responsible for safely transporting patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. This position requires excellent communication, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with patients of different acuity levels and must be able to follow hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and patient safety procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Transporter may be responsible for the following:

  • Safely transport patients by wheelchair, gurney, bed, or other approved transport equipment.
  • Assist with patient transfers under the direction of nursing or clinical staff.
  • Transport patients to and from nursing units, diagnostic departments, treatment areas, admissions, discharge areas, and other hospital locations.
  • Maintain patient comfort, privacy, and safety during transport.
  • Communicate professionally with nurses, clinical staff, patients, and family members.
  • Follow proper infection control and safety procedures during all transports.
  • Ensure transport equipment is clean, functional, and properly stored.
  • Respond promptly to transport requests and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with movement of supplies, equipment, specimens, or other materials as needed.
  • Follow facility protocols when transporting patients or items to sensitive areas, including the morgue.
  • Report any patient condition changes, safety concerns, or equipment issues to appropriate staff.
Requirements

1st Step

  • Resume Minimum of 1 year of CNA or hospital patient transport experience preferred
  • License/Certification: CNA license is preferred but not required if candidate has strong hospital transporter experience
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Skills checklist
  • 1 to 2 current supervisor references

2nd Step

  • Physical within the last 12 months
  • PPD/TB test within the last 12 months
  • MMR and Varicella documentation
  • Hep B documentation or declination
  • Tdap and Flu documentation or declination
  • Required exams
  • LGBT Training Certification
  • Copy of drivers license and Social Security card
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

Resume Guidelines Required

Resume must be current and include the following:

  • All employment gaps must be explained
  • At least 7 years of work history, or full work history if less than 7 years
  • Each role must include job title, unit/department, facility name, city/state, and dates worked
  • Include full-time or part-time status and hours worked
  • Include EMR/Epic experience, if applicable
  • Include month/year of graduation
